Brand refresh for a historic research institution

The History of Parliament Trust oversees ‘The History of Parliament’, a long-running research project documenting British parliamentary politics from the 13th century onwards.

Funded principally by UK Parliament, the Trust publishes authoritative research on elections, constituencies, and Members of Parliament.

Red Stone was appointed to refresh the Trust’s brand identity while preserving its institutional authority and scholarly credibility.

Elevating communications

The Trust needed a cohesive visual identity that could unify multiple research outputs under one masterbrand, whilst elevating reporting and governance communications.

The new identity needed to reflect both historical depth and contemporary relevance, and be equally at home across print and digital formats.

Inspired by heritage

The identity draws directly from the architecture and symbolism of the Palace of Westminster.

At its centre is a logo marque inspired by Pugin’s portcullis, an enduring symbol of the UK Parliament. Architectural detailing informed the wider visual language and colour palette.

A coherent approach

The refreshed identity marks a step change for the Trust – a flexible system and contemporary expression of parliamentary heritage that gives them the tools to communicate with clarity and cut-through.

The new brand is currently being implemented across publications and digital platforms, with launch scheduled this year.
