Annual reports for an ever-changing financial climate
The British Business Bank is the UK’s government-owned development bank. Its mission is to drive sustainable growth and prosperity across the UK and enable the transition to a net zero economy by improving access to finance for smaller businesses.
Following a series of successful award-winning reports, the Bank once-again appointed us for the design and production of its 2024 and 2025 Annual Report and Accounts – a key flagship corporate publication and communications piece.

2025 annual report and accounts
The 2025 Annual report and accounts was the year when the report went fully digital. This gave a greater opportunity to use our expertise in designing and producing accessible digital products.
The report was also the first to showcase the latest iteration of the visual identity we developed for the bank, using new assets such as the new illustration style.
The report was supported by a film we created and a suite of animated and static social assets.
2024 annual report and accounts: Driving growth across the UK
The 2024 report marked a significant milestone: 10 years of the Bank’s impact. The report needed to reflect this moment while articulating an ambitious, future-facing vision, underpinned by the central theme: Supporting UK growth and innovation. The tone was optimistic and confident, with a focus on how the Bank supports businesses across regions and sectors to thrive and evolve.
Engaging wide range of stakeholders
The report we delivered presents a detailed picture of the Bank’s expanding role in the UK economy. From the launch of the Nations and Regions Investment Funds to the extension of Future Fund: Breakthrough and the establishment of the Long-Term Investment for Technology and Science initiative, the publication showcases a year of strategic progress and wider impact.
We were also tasked with integrating content from the Bank’s two commercial subsidiaries, British Business Investments and British Patient Capital, into a single, coherent narrative. The result is a unified report that reflects the Bank’s shared goals while allowing space for each subsidiary’s voice.
By effectively combining visual elements, key information, and regional context, the 2024 Annual Report and Accounts serves as a comprehensive overview of the bank's activities across the UK. With commitment to accessibility and thoughtful use of imagery, the report successfully communicates complex information to a wide range of stakeholders, including both experts and non-experts in the field.
An example of good practice in annual reporting
The British Business Bank’s Annual Report and Accounts has been cited by the National Audit Office in their Good practice in annual reporting guide published recently.
We were instrumental in the areas held up as examples: 'Clear explanation of operational model', 'Performance metrics linked to strategic objectives'. The report was also cited as using 'clear language and graphics to explain how its operations support its mission'.
