Bank of England

New identity for a unique museum

Telling the Bank’s story

The brief was to create a new identity for the Bank of England Museum promotional materials to better engage audiences and reflect the user experience of the newly refurbished Museum.

  • BOE MUSEUM A5-Leaflet-2 1400x940
  • BOE MUSEUM photo 1400x940
  • BOE MUSEUM DL Leaflets 1400x940

The aim was to increase visitor numbers to the Museum as part of the Bank's public engagement programme. This was to be achieved by targeting a wide cross section of the general public – from school children to expert visitors, organised tour operators and groups to individual passers-by.

We created a refreshed identity that would appeal to our target audiences whilst being seen to belong to the Bank's own master brand.

Challenges and outcome

Because the Bank of England is one of London's landmark buildings, there are challenges associated with working in this environment. As a Grade I listed building there were restrictions on signage.

We overcame this by using formats approved by the Corporation of London (small external signage, entrance banners), but giving them maximum impact through use of messaging, imagery and vibrant colour.
